LABOR DOULA AND POSTPARTUM CARE IN LOS ANGELES, CA
YOURDOULA Mission Statement
My mission as a labor doula is to support, care for and nurture women and their partners through the birthing process. I want women to be blessed with an unforgettable birthing experience, and empower them with the tools to make it happen. The magnitude and the mystery of childbirth can be overwhelming, and through physical and moral support, I enable women to labor with the care and attention they need. I will be a source of constant comfort, information and I am there every step of the way. I am supportive not only for the mother, but I help her partner as well. As a labor Doula, I am present throughout the birth, and my shift ends after the baby is born, and everyone is comfortable and settled in.
It is my belief that a woman in labor needs to be active. When I support a laboring mother, I encourage walking, kneeling, squatting, rocking, changing activities and positions.
It is important for me to really get to know the mother I will be supporting. So during our prenatal meetings, she and I will talk about what comfort measures work for her when she is in pain, stressed, angry, hurt or afraid. My objective develop a relationship that is close and comfortable and still giving the couple the privacy they need.
